July 2, 2004 Albany Saratoga - Patience doesn't pay off. During the week the 9 team worked on the Probe's handling and it looked like the changes were working. After starting in the 8th position and avoiding an early wreck on the back stretch Brian was working his way through the field. After patiently waiting for the 25 & 26 cars to wreck themselves Brian worked underneath both cars for a clean pass. A half lap later the 25 & 26 demolishion derby put the 9 car into the outside wall in turn 1. The Probe was heavily damaged and unable to continue finishing in the tenth position. Elmer Montville (#30) won for the second week in a row and Rich Mryzglod (#51) recorded his fifth straight top three. Rich leads Elmer by just three points as they run away with the six cylinder points lead.
June 25, 2004 Albany Saratoga - 9 car unable to find racing groove. Brian immediately took the 9 car to the top of the track on the green flag and found most of the field trying to take advantage of the high line. With little room to work and after being pushed off the cushion in turn 2 Brian tried to work the bottom of the track but the car wouldn't stick down there. The 9 team settled with a seventh place finish and a banged up race car.
June 18, 2004 Albany Saratoga - Bad start / good finish. Brian started the 9 car in the tenth position and was starting to move up in the field using the outside line. On lap 3 Brian got caught up in a spin and fell to the rear of the field. A caution on the next lap tightened up the field a little bit. With two laps to go Brian went three wide in turns 1 & 2 and moved from fifth to third. The 9 team was able to catch but not pass the 51 car for the second position.
June 11, 2004 Albany Saratoga - Last minute repairs lead to a descent finish. At 2:30 in the afternoon on race day most drivers are getting ready to race. The 9 team with some help were still putting the transmission back into the race car. By 5:30 the tranny was in and the 9 team was at the track and ready to race. Brian started in the 12th position and drove the 9 car to a fifth place finish in the caution free 20 lap feature. Special thanks to John and Ray for their help with the clutch!
June 4, 2004 Albany Saratoga - Mechanical problems plague a decent night. Brian started the 9 car in the 13th position as 17 cars took to the track for the six cylinder mini stock feature. As the first caution fell on lap 7 Brian had found himself in sixth place and still working forward. Race Director Bruce Richards had increased the mini stock features to 20 laps, unfortunately the clutch on the 9 car was starting to slip on lap 14 and the finally let go on the backstretch of lap 20. What looked to be a good shot at top 3 ended up in an 8th place finish.
May 28, 2004 Albany Saratoga - 9 team finds victory lane. Starting on the inside of row two turned out to be the catalyst needed to get Brian in victory lane for the first time this year. The 9 car took the lead on lap 2 and easily maintained the lead for 14 of the 15 laps in the six cylinder Pro Built mini stock feature.
May 21, 2004 Albany Saratoga - 9 team improving. The #9 team finished up work on the primary car on Tuesday and brought it to the track for Friday night racing. Brian started on the inside of row two behind the pole sitter #48. On the green flag the #48 car got off to a bad start and bunched up the inside lane going into turn 1. Brian tried to wait it out but found himself running tenth on the back stretch. Persistence paid off as the #9 finished the no-caution 15 lap feature in fifth place.
May 14, 2004 Albany Saratoga - Lap cars ruin a great run. The #9 team brought out the back up car while the primary car is still being worked on. Brian started on the outside front row and took the lead on lap 2. After leading for 5 laps Brian caught a lap car and the rest of the field was able to close the gap. Two laps later and a tap from the 79 car Brian was running in fourth and closing back in on the leaders. In turns 3 & 4 the lapped #10 spun right in front of the 9 car and Brian had no where to go. Heavy damage was inflicted on the 9 car and ended a very good run.
May 7, 2004 Albany Saratoga - Disappointing start to the 2004 racing season. After all the prep work over the winter the #9 team was very anxious to get the new Probe on the track. Unfortunately, its debut was very lack luster. The car was lacking torque in the corners and as the team feared the car probably has a clutch problem. Brian started fifth and finished in the ninth position on the lead lap.
